LAB TECHNICIAN ( 3 TO 4 YEARS EXPERIENCED) – Karachi

• Draws blood, stores test sample (Blood, urine, stool, body fluids etc) for necessary procedure according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Performs manual and automated routine and special tests according to SOPs in all departments like Routine and Special Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Immunology, Serology and Parasitology.
• Sets up, cleans, and maintains laboratory facility and equipment.
• Prepares media according to SOPs.
• Analyzes laboratory findings to check the accuracy of the results.
• Prepares specimens for microscope examination.
• Operates laboratory equipment including centrifuges, dry bath incubators, and blood bank refrigerators.
• Operates, calibrates and maintains equipment used in quantitative and qualitative analysis, such as Microlab, Nihon Kohden, Easylyte, Selectra Junior and Statfax.
• Enters data from analysis of medical tests and clinical results into computer for storage.
• Communicates patient and laboratory information.
• Maintains files and records; records data.
• Supervises, trains, and directs lab assistants engaged in laboratory testing.
• Collects and studies blood samples to determine the number of cells, their morphology, or their blood group.
• Needs knowledge of chemical composition, structure and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations that they undergo. This includes uses of chemicals and their interactions, danger signs, production techniques, and disposal methods.
• Needs knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography and transcription, designing forms.
• Needs the skill to understand written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
• Needs the skill to use scientific rules and methods to solve problems.
• Needs the skill to talk to others to convey information effectively.
• Needs the skill to identify complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions that will help their job function.
